Newsies, Once, Nice Work If You Can Get It & More Nab 2012 Grammy Nominations

Nominations have been announced for the 55th annual Grammy Awards, which will be presented on February 10, 2013. Five Broadway productions are in the running for Best Musical Theater Album, with credits as follows:

The Gershwins' Porgy And Bess, New Broadway Cast (PS Classics): David Alan Grier, Norm Lewis & Audra McDonald, principal soloists; Tommy Krasker, producer (George Gershwin, composer; Ira Gershwin, Dorothy Heyward & DuBose Heyward, lyricists)

Newsies, Original Broadway Cast (Ghostlight Records/Razor & Tie): Jeremy Jordan & Kara Lindsay, principal soloists; Frank Filipetti, Michael Kosarin, Alan Menken & Chris Montan, producers (Alan Menken, composer; Jack Feldman, lyricist)

Nice Work If You Can Get It, Original Broadway Cast (Shout! Factory): Matthew Broderick & Kelli O'Hara, principal soloists; David Chase, Bill Elliott & Robert Sher, producers (George Gershwin, composer; Ira Gershwin, lyricist)

Broadway vets Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman drew a nomination for Best Song Written for Visual Media for "Let Me Be Your Star," sung by Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty on NBC's Smash. The Rock of Ages film soundtrack also earned a nod for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.

Grammys are presented in a whopping 81 categories.
