Lysistrata Jones’ Lindsay Nicole Chambers will join off-Broadway’s musical revue Forbidden Broadway: Alive & Kicking beginning February 5. Chambers will replace original cast member Jenny Lee Stern, who will depart the production on February 3. The show, which lovingly mocks Broadway’s biggest shows and stars, runs at off-Broadway's 47th Street Theatre through April 28.
Forbidden Broadway spoofs shows from the past Broadway season including Newsies, Ghost, Once, Follies, Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar, End of the Rainbow, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Porgy and Bess, Into the Woods and Spider-Man, Turn Off the Dark. In addition to new shows, the production will also targets long-running Broadway musicals including The Book of Mormon, Wicked, Mary Poppins and The Lion King.
Alive and Kicking is the 21st edition of Forbidden Broadway, which premiered off-Broadway in 1982. Written by Gerard Alessandrini and directed by Alessandrini and Phillip George, the show will continue to star Scott Richard Foster, Natalie Charle Ellis and Marcus Stevens.
Chambers appeared in the Broadway productions of Lysistrata Jones, Hairspray and Legally Blonde. She most recently appeared off-Broadway in the musical Triassic Parq.
