The angsty teens of Bare are heading to the U.K. this spring. A new production of the musical, directed by Paul Taylor-Mills, begins previews on April 24 at London's Union Theatre. Opening night is set for April 30, and will play the production will play a limited engagement through May 25. Casting has not yet been announced.
Featuring music by Damon Intrabartolo, lyrics by John Hartmere and a book by Intrabartolo and Hartmere, Bare tells the story of a group of teens discovering their identities, sexuality and religion at a co-ed Catholic boarding school. As their last year of high school comes to an end, Peter, Jason and their friends try to navigate the complicated transition from adolescence to adulthood. The London run will feature choreography by Racky Plews and design by Huw Evans.
Bare originally premiered at the Hudson Theatre in Los Angeles in October 2000. Bare opened off-Broadway on April 2004, starring Michael Arden, Jenna Leigh Green and John Hill. A new, re-imagined off-Broadway production opened on December 9, 2012, featuring additional songs by Hartmere and Lynne Shankel. Starring Taylor Trensch, Jason Hite and Elizabeth Judd, the production closed on February 3.
