The theatrical extravaganza iLuminate: Artist of Light is heading back to the off-Broadway stage! Directed by Miral Kotb, co-written by Kotb and Athena S. Bienvenu and composed by Christopher Tignor, the dazzling spectacle is set to begin performances June 24, with an official opening on July 18 at off-Broadway’s New World Stages.
iLuminate tells the story of Jacob, a talented but insecure young artist who struggles to connect with the real world. He takes comfort in his magical paintbrush, which grants him the power to turn the characters of his imagination into living, breathing characters. Using dance, music and glowing special effects, iLuminate uses contemporary technology to light up the performers’ intricate costumes as they dance in the dark, creating a thrilling journey for the audience. iLuminate: Artist of Light previously played at off-Broadway’s Duke on 42nd Street in 2012.
iLuminate: Artist of Light features scenic and costume design by John “JRock” Nelson, and choreography by Nelson, Dario Mejia and Marcus Allan Cobb.
