We hardly know how to describe a play about a man and his “banana,” Sergeant Johnson—but you can probably fill in the blanks! Billed as a “penetratingly funny show about love,” The Banana Monologues opened on June 24 at off-Broadway's Acorn Theatre, with co-writer John R. Brennan taking the stage for a hilarious solo performance. After the show, Brennan (above, second from left) celebrated with first-nighter and History Channel host Don Wildman, co-writer Jason C. Cooper and director Debra Whitfield. Take a look at our opening night Hot Shot, then see Brennan (metaphorically) peel his Banana on Theatre Row this summer.
