Janis Joplin has found her back-up singers! Complete casting has been announced for the Broadway company of A Night with Janis Joplin, which stars Mary Bridget Davies as the iconic rocker. Written and directed by Randy Johnson, the show begins previews at the Lyceum Theatre on September 20, with opening night set for October 10.
Joining Davies will be Tony nominee De’Adre Aziza (Passing Strange), NaTasha Yvette Williams (The Color Purple), Nikki Kimbrough (Dreamgirls) and Taprena Michelle Augustine (The Book of Mormon) as Joplin’s back-up singers, “The Joplinaires,” as well as a handful of iconic female singers who influenced Joplin’s music. Kacee Clanton will star as Janis Joplin alternate, with Allison Blackwell as a Joplinaire swing and Alison Cusano understudying both Janis Joplin and the Joplinaires.

The show takes audiences on a musical journey with Joplin as her unforgettable voice made her a must-see headliner all across the country when she exploded onto the music scene in 1967. Before taking on the Great White Way, A Night with Janis Joplin has played Portland, Cleveland, Washington, D.C., Pasadena and Milwaukee.
