The Bard is back on the big screen! National Theatre Live is to broadcast the Donmar Warehouse production of Shakespeare’s Coriolanus with Tom Hiddleston in the title role. Directed by Josie Rourke with Mark Gatiss as Menenius, the production will be shown in cinemas and performing arts venues in the U.S and around the world.
When an old adversary threatens Rome, the city calls once more on her hero and defender: Coriolanus (Hiddleston). But he has enemies at home too. Famine threatens the city, the citizens’ hunger swells to an appetite for change, and on returning from the field Coriolanus must confront the march of realpolitik and the voice of an angry people.
