Sasha Ellen’s Signal Failure will make its New York premiere off-Broadway, starring Ellen and Spenser Cowan. Directed by Peter Darney, the romantic comedy will play a limited engagement at Soho Playhouse October 8 through November 17.
Big-city-virgin, Lorna (Ellen), and reclusive night chef (kind-of stalker), Brian (Cowan), journey through life, love, and London’s transport system, until the Metro’s rush hour crush brings them together. Lorna misses her mother as she adjusts to bustle and noise of North London and her rampant flatmates. Brian is the proud owner of the cleanest floors in London. Brief encounters give way to awkward sexual encounters-but the course of London transport never did run smooth. Expect accidents, delays, and severe signal failure as two damaged people try to cross the gap in this twisted romantic comedy.
The production will feature lighting design by Sherry Coenen.
