London’s got a new Nick! Stage and screen alum Gary Watson will join the cast of Jersey Boys at the Piccadilly Theatre in the West End beginning March 10. He takes over for Matt Nalton in the role of Nick Massi and joins a cast that includes Michael Watson as Frankie Valli, Edd Post as Bob Gaudio and Jon Boydon as Tommy DeVito.
Watson’s previous West End credits include Fings Ain’t Wot They Used T’Be, A Chorus Line, Matilda and Les Miserables. He also appeared on stage in Finding Neverland and on screen in That Day We Sang and Kenneth Branagh’s upcoming Cinderella.
Additional new cast members beginning on March 10 include Simon Adkins, Matthew Cutts, Stuart Dawes, Nicky Griffiths, Joseph Peters, Chris Stoddart and Helen Ternent. They will join current performers Nicola Brazil, Lucinda Gill, Thomas Goodridge, Matthew Hunt, Mark Isherwood, Charlotte Jeffery, Ben Jennings, Matt Thorpe and Ben Wheeler.
Jersey Boys tells the story of how Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons went from being unknown New Jersey kids to international pop superstars. The show features over 30 hit songs, including “Sherry,” “Big Girls Don’t Cry” and “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”
