She’s a star! South Korean pop performer Ivy makes her Broadway debut as Roxie Hart in Chicago on August 17 at the Ambassador Theatre. Ivy will rouge her knees on Broadway for a limited run through September 6.
This is not Ivy's first stint at the Cook County Jail, as she previously played Roxie in the South Korean production of Chicago, earning the 2012 Korean Musical Award for Best New Actress. Her other theater credits include Moulin Rouge! The Musical, Aida, Wicked, Ghost the Musical, Jekyll & Hyde, Urinetown, Dracula and Kiss Me, Kate. As a recording artist, Ivy has released three studio albums.
Ivy joins current Broadway cast members Sophie Carmen-Jones as Velma Kelly, Jacqueline B. Arnold as Matron “Mama” Morton, Eddie Cooper as Amos Hart and J. Workman as Mary Sunshine.
Chicago is directed by Walter Bobbie and choreographed by Ann Reinking. The Tony-winning musical revival features a book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse, music by John Kander and lyrics by Ebb.
