Lisa Howard and Dylan Bradford Join The Sound of Music North American Tour
Howard will play the Mother Abbess, while Bradford makes his national tour debut as Rolf Gruber

The North American tour of The Sound of Music is welcoming new cast members this fall. Lisa Howard will play Mother Abbess beginning on September 18 with Dylan Bradford taking on the role of Rolf Gruber on September 8. Howard and Bradford will begin performances at the Dallas tour stop at the Music Hall at Fair Park.
They join a cast led by Cayleigh Capaldi as Maria Rainer, Kevin Earley as Captain Georg von Trapp, Nicholas Rodriguez as Max Detweiler, Kate Loprest as Elsa Schraeder and Ariana Ferch as Liesl von Trapp. The show also features John Adkison as Franz, Corey Greenan as Admiral von Schreiber and Daniel Robert Sullivan as Herr Zeller. Completing the cast are Blaire Eilene Baker, Sydney K. Borchers, Steven Grant Douglas, Alli Echelmeyer, Hugh Entrekin, Charlotte Jenkins as Sister Margaretta, Mark Bradley Miller as Baron Elberfeld, Julia Mosby, Ruthie Sangster and Lisa Rosetta Strum as Sister Berthe.
Howard originated roles on Broadway in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, It Shoulda Been You, Escape to Margaritaville and was featured in Priscilla Queen of the Desert, 9 to 5: The Musical and South Pacific. She also performed on tour in Wicked and off-Broadway in Titanique. Bradford makes his national tour debut in the production.
Additional cast members that will join the production during the Dallas engagement are Laura Stracko as Frau Schmidt, new ensemble members Jake DiMaggio Lopez and Connor Lyon, with new von Trapp children Cooper Johnsen as Friedrich, Lilly Belle Lanese as Louisa, Charlie Palmer as Kurt, Stormie Piper Treviño as Brigitta, Rory L. Prichard as Marta and Emma Rose Marinoff as Gretl. Mila DeBenedetto, Ava Giselle Field and Daniel Smyres will understudy the von Trapp children.
The beloved story of Maria and the von Trapp family, directed by five-time Tony winner Jack O’Brien, features the legendary songs “My Favorite Things,” “Do-Re-Mi,” “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” “Edelweiss” and “The Sound of Music.” The Sound of Music features music by Richard Rodgers, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II and a book by Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse. The musical premiered on Broadway in 1959 and was turned into an Oscar-winning film in 1965, one of the most successful movie musicals of all time.
