Chef's Theater Continues Hiatus Through Sept.

Chef's Theater, which was on hiatus until June 1 because of a water main break, will now stay closed until September because of another flood. A production spokesperson told Broadway.com that the machine that was being using to dry everything got overloaded and burst, thereby causing a repeat incident.

Chef's Theater began performances at the Supper Club on March 30 with hosts Shannon Lewis, Paige Price and Jim Walton. After receiving mixed to negative reviews, the show went on hiatus on May 9. It re-opened May 13 in a retooled version with Price and Mylinda Hull as its hosts and the fledgling brunch show, which was previously held on Saturday and Sunday, was cut from the lineup. The dinner and dessert shows were scheduled to continue.

On May 18 it was announced that performances of the show were being canceled through May 29 after a water main break knocked out electricity to part of the theater. Performances were expected to resume on June 1; however, a production spokesperson now says, owing to this second flood, performances are definitely off throughout the summer, with an exact return date not yet determined.

Chef's Theater producers Marty Bell and Greg Smith, who have a three-year lease on the Supper Club, are hoping to rent the space out for the summer. It is safe to rent as tenants will likely not need to use the stage or any of the damaged equipment.
