Sean Patrick Thomas Completes Much Ado Cast
Thomas, who will play Borachio in Much Ado, is best known for his starring role in the hit film Save the Last Dance. His other film credits include Courage Under Fire, Picture Perfect, Can't Hardly Wait, Cruel Intentions and both Barbershop movies. Thomas was also a series regular on CBS' The District.
Much Ado About Nothing centers on the happenings in Messina, Sicily when Don Pedro, Prince of Aragon, and his soldiers return from war triumphant. Claudio, a young soldier, falls hard for Hero E. Waterston, daughter of the Governor S. Waterston. Benedick Smits, another Pedro pal, begins a love-hate relationship with Beatrice Johnston. All seems to be well, but someone is scheming to insure both couples break apart.
In addition to the above cast members, the company of Much Ado About Nothing will also feature Laura Kai Chen, Manoel Felciano, Frank Faucett, Bill Heck, Andre Holland, Peter Francis James, Kevin Kelly, Dane Knell, Peter McCain, Julio Monge, Lorenzo Pisoni, Steven Skybell, Emily Swallow and Christopher Evan Welch.
David Esbjornson is set to direct Much Ado About Nothing, which will begin performances at Central Park's Delacorte Theatre on June 22. It is scheduled to run through August 8 one day later than previously announced.
