Additional Stars Set for WTF 2004 Season
As previously reported, in honor of Williamstown's 50th anniversary, the theater is moving its well-known Cabaret series to the Main Stage, where it will kick-off the season, running from June 24 through July 10. The show will feature a full band and a rotating roster of guest performers. Directed by Christopher Ashley, the show will be new almost every night. Lewis Black, Christopher Fitzgerald who is taking time off from Wicked to appear at Williamstown, Bill Irwin, James Naughton and Carol Woods were already confirmed to participate. The lineup will also include Charlotte d'Amboise, Kate Burton, Tim Daly, Terrence Mann, Martin, Joe Morton, Debra Monk, Martha Plimpton, Billy Porter, Rees, Reeve, Marisa Tomei and Wolf.
New casting has also been confirmed for two productions on the tiny Nikos stage. Audra McDonald was the first person announced to star in Michael John Lachiusa's R Shomon, running July 21 through August 1. It is now known that she will be joined by Six Feet Under's Hall whose Broadway credits include Cabaret and Chicago, Testa and Wopat. Ted Sperling will direct.
Terrence McNally's Dedication or the Stuff of Dreams, directed by Scott Ellis and running at the Nikos from August 11 through August 22, will star Bobby Cannavale, Boyd Gaines, Debra Monk and Marian Seldes. The play centers on a couple's love affair with the theater. Lou and Jessie Nuncle run a children's theater in a mall in upstate New York. With the possibility of taking over an abandoned vaudeville palace, the Nuncles are forced to examine how far their love of theater will take them.
As previously announced, Williamstown will also present Williams Shakespeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream with Fitzgerald as Puck, Noel Coward's Design for Living with Campbell Scott, Tomei and Weber, Anton Chekhov's The Cherry Orchard, Theresa Rebeck's The Water's Edge with Burton and Richard Nelson's Rodney's Wife as part of its 2004 season.
