Broadway Grosses: Post-Tony Turnout

The three biggest Tony winners Assassins, Avenue Q and Wicked all scored at the box office in the first week since the awards, raising their box office figures by considerable amounts over the previous week. Still, perhaps the show most helped by the Tonys was the struggling I Am My Own Wife, which won Best Play and Best Actor in a Play for sole performer Jefferson Mays. The show was up $77,611 from the week prior to the ceremony--by far the highest jump of any straight play. Additionally the production, which had been staying at under the 70% capacity mark, filled the Lyceum 80.86% on average.
