Anouilh's Becket to Play the West End

Jean Anouilh's Becket is coming back to the West End. The revival, starring Dougray Scott and Jasper Britton, will begin previews at the Theatre Royal Haymarket on October 20.
Becket centers on the lifelong friendship of Henry II Britton and the Archbishop of Canterbury, Thomas Becket Scott, which is tested and ends in tragedy as Becket grows more confident and thoughtful in his position. The play portrays England under Henry II as if it were France under German occupation.
Scott, who is originally from Scotland, trained at the Welsh College of Music and Drama. He last appeared on the London stage in 2000 in Sam Mendes' production of Nick Whitby's To The Green Fields and Beyond. American film audiences best know him as the dashing Prince Henry in Ever After or the sinister Sean Ambrose in Mission: Impossible II. His other film credits include Princess Caraboo, Deep Impact, Enigma and Ripley's Game.

A respected London stage actor, Britton's credits include Troilus & Cressida, The Taming Of The Shrew, The Tamer Tamed, Macbeth and Money. He has appeared on the small screen in the television series Big Kids and My Dad's the Prime Minister.
Becket, directed by John Caird, is scheduled to open on October 27.
