Toxic Audio, the show of vocal pyrotechnics that won a 2004 Drama Desk Award for Unique Theatrical Experience, is closing on October 31, producer Eric Krebs confirmed to Broadway.com. At the time of its closing, the show will have played 225 performances at off-Broadway's John Houseman Theatre.
Toxic Audio is an experience unlike any other; the five-member cast uses no instruments other than the human voice to create complex sonic textures, thumping bass lines, rhythmic drum beats and soaring guitar and horn solos in their performances of contemporary pop songs, standards, jazz and original compositions
The cast of Toxic Audio features Jeremy James, Shalisa James, René Ruiz who also serves as the director, Paul Sperrazza and Michelle Valines.
Krebs noted that the show, which has been running since April 7 at the Houseman, is strongly considering a return as a late-night offering at the off-Broadway venue.
