Mike Leigh is bringing his latest play to the National Theatre. The writer/director will work with eight actors over the course of 18 weeks starting in April on the untitled project, according to Variety.
This is Leigh's first play since It's a Great Big Shame! in 1993. His other theater works include Goose-Pimples, Ecstasy, Abigail's Party, Greek Tragedy, Smelling a Rat and Bleak Moments. Leigh is also well known for his work as both a writer and director on feature films. He was nominated for Academy Awards for his writing for both Secrets & Lies and Topsy-Turvy and also received a Best Director nomination for Secrets & Lies. His most recent film, Vera Drake, recently premiered at the Venice Film Festival and will be seen at the New York Film Festival on October 8 and October 9.
