Dallas Roberts has replaced Peter Sarsgaard in the New York Theatre Workshop production of Caryl Churchill's A Number. Sarsgaard withdrew from the project in order to film Flight Plan, in which he co-stars with Jodie Foster.
Roberts is a New York Theatre Workshop alum, having earned a Drama Desk nomination for his performance in Nocturne at the theater. His other off-Broadway credits include Enter the Night, True Love and Burn This. He also notably originated the roles of Kynaston in Jeffrey Hatcher's Compleat Female Stage Beauty at Contemporary American Theater Festival and Astrakhan in Arthur Kopit's Y2K at Actors Theatre of Louisville's Humana Festival.
A Number centers on Bernard Roberts, a man who comes to tell his father Sam Shepard some shocking news. The play premiered at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 2002.
A Number, directed by James MacDonald, is scheduled to run November 16 through January 16, 2005.
