Broadway dance couple Elizabeth Parkinson who left her leading role in Movin' Out because of her pregnancy and Tony winner Scott Wise recently welcomed a new addition to their family. James Montana Wise, who weighed in at birth at eight pounds four ounces, isn't yet big enough to fill the well-worn dance shoes of his parents, but genetically speaking, he's bound for the stage. The newborn arrived at New York Presbyterian Hospital on September 24.
Both Wise and Parkinson appeared in Twyla Tharp and Billy Joel's Movin' Out. Parkinson was nominated for a Tony Award and won a 2003 Astaire Award for her performance in the tuner, while Wise, who plays Sgt. O'Leary, served as Tharp's assistant director/choreographer.
Parkinson was no stranger to the New York stage when she leapt into Fosse in 1999, having been a principal dancer with the Joffrey Ballet, Feld Ballet, Donald Byrd and Twyla Tharp Dance companies. Wise has appeared in 13 Broadway shows, and counts among his awards a 1989 Tony for his performance in Jerome Robbins' Broadway. He has described his 20-year-old daughter, Savannah, as his favorite production. With the birth of James Montana, it looks like the new big sis will have to share that title.
