Ed Harris has been tapped to helm the upcoming Roundabout Theatre production of Sam Shepard's Fool for Love. The play will begin performances at the American Airlines Theatre on January 15.
Harris earned an Obie Award for Outstanding Actor for the role of Eddie in the original off-Broadway production of Fool for Love. He appeared as an actor on Broadway in Precious Sons and Taking Sides. This will mark Harris' Broadway directorial debut. Harris has earned four Oscar nominations for Apollo 13, The Truman Show, Pollock and The Hours. He made his feature film directorial debut with 2000's Pollock, which netted him a Best Actor Oscar nomination and earned Marcia Gay Harden the Oscar for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
Fool for Love takes place on the barren edge of the Mojave Desert, where two lovers, holed up in a seedy motel, battle for absolute power in their love-hate affair. Passion rages into the wee hours, until the unspoken secret behind their attraction is revealed, proving how dangerously simple it is for anyone to become a fool for love.
Fool for Love, which will have an official opening on February 10, is scheduled to run on Broadway through April 3.
