Jeremy Piven is set to star in Neil Labute's Fat Pig at MCC Theater. The show, directed by Jo Bonney, will begin previews at the Lucille Lortel on November 23.
Piven got his start on stage at his parents' theater, the Piven Theatre Workshop in Illinois, where he recently appeared in a production of The Guys. He also studied at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center and Britain's National Theatre. Piven is best known for his work in Hollywood. He made his feature debut in Lucas in 1986. His subsequent film credits include One Crazy Summer, Say Anything, Bob Roberts, Singles, Judgment Night, PCU, Miami Rhapsody, Kiss the Girls, Rush Hour 2, Serendipity, Black Hawk Down, Old School, Runaway Jury, Scary Movie 3 and Chasing Liberty. He can currently be seen playing agent Ari Jacobs on the HBO series Entourage and was previously a series regular on Carol & Company, Ellen and Cupid.
Fat Pig centers on a man who is dating an overweight woman. The play traces the courtship of two people who truly care for one another set against a world that ridicules and ostracizes those who do not fit into a Hollywood realm of ideal beauty and scathingly questions the superficial values of the world of today.
The piece is scheduled to open off-Broadway on December 15 and run through January 15.
