McKellen was most recently on Broadway in Strindberg's Dance of Death in 2001. He later reprised his acclaimed production in a West End mounting of the revival. Although his stage career has been predominantly in his native England, he made his Broadway debut in 1967 in The Promise, won a Tony for Best Actor for Amadeus and also received a Tony nomination for his performance in Acting Shakespeare.
Murray recently played Dogberry in Much Ado About Nothing in Central Park. Murray's Broadway credits include Uncle Vanya, Twelfth Night, Noises Off for which he received a Drama Desk Award, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead Tony nomination, Black Comedy, The Little Foxes Tony nomination and The Crucible. His off-Broadway credits include Long Day's Journey Into Night, Entertaining Mr. Sloane, Misalliance, Molly Sweeney, Travels With My Aunt, Ashes, The Merry Wives of Windsor, Hamlet, The Butterfly Collection, The Play About the Baby and Beckett/Albee. He is set to star as Sir Lucius O'Trigger in the upcoming Lincoln Center Theater production of The Rivals.
Parsons made her Broadway debut in 1956. Her 25 Broadway credits include Tony Award-nominated roles in The Seven Descents of Myrtle, Miss Reardon Drinks a Little, Miss Margarida's Way and Morning's at Seven. She will soon appear onstage at Paper Mill Playhouse in the musical Harold & Maude.
Gurney is most widely known for his plays The Dining Room, The Cocktail Hour, Love Letters and Sylvia. His other works include Children, The Middle Ages, Sweet Sue, The Golden Age, The Perfect Party, The Snow Ball, The Old Boy and Later Life.
McCann is a producer with eight Tony-winning plays Dracula, The Elephant Man, Amadeus, Nicholas Nickleby, A View from the Bridge, Morning's at Seven, Copenhagen and The Goat to her credit. She became a managing director in the Nederlander organization in 1967 and started to produce on her own with Nelle Nugent in 1976. She has been managing producer of the Tony Awards since 2001.
Loquasto has designed sets and/or costumes for 50 Broadway shows, from Sticks and Bones in 1972 to Long Day's Journey into Night in 2003. He has won Tony Awards for his costume designs for The Cherry Orchard and Grand Hotel and his scenic design of Café Crown.
These individuals will be formally inducted to the Theatre Hall of Fame on January 24, 2005 at Broadway's Gershwin Theatre. Hall of Fame member Jerry Orbach will emcee the ceremony, when the eight names will be added to the more than 400 already listed in gold on the upper lobby walls.
