McGregor first came to the attention of audiences worldwide for his role in the 1996 film Trainspotting. His subsequent film credits include The Pillow Book, Emma, Brassed Odd, A Life Less Ordinary, Velvet Goldmine, Little Voice, Star Wars: Episode I--The Phantom Menace, Moulin Rouge! for which he was nominated for a Golden Globe Award, Black Hawk Down, Star Wars: Episode II--Attack of the Clones, Down with Love, Young Adam and Big Fish. Trained at the Guidhall School of Music & Drama, McGregor began working at the Perth Repertory Theatre early in his career. While he used to appear often on the stage, in recent years he has concentrated solely on his film career. His last theatrical outing was in 1999, when he appear in Little Malcolm and his Struggle Against the Eunuchs at the Hampstead Theatre and Comedy Theatre.
Guys and Dolls centers on zoot-suited gamblers, dashing con men and the beautiful show girls who love 'em. McGregor is playing the male lead who believes he can win any bet, but gets more than he bargained for when he does. The musical features a score by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows.
During its 2005 season, the Donmar has also confirmed it will present JP Miller's Days of Wine and Roses in a new version by Owen McCafferty February 17 - April 2, David Greig'S The Cosmonaut's Last Message to the Woman He Once Loved in the Former Soviet Union April 7 - May 21, Neil LaBute's This Is How It Goes May 26 - July 9 and Friedrich Schiller's Mary Stuart July 14 - September 3. The Donmar additionally announced a new association with New York producer Arielle Tepper. Tepper will work with the theater company in areas of shared interest, including transferring its productions and the development of new writing.
