"It was the hardest decision that I've ever had to make," Portia told Broadway.com. "I just decided to take a leap of faith and see if I could have success outside of the LAB. I wanted to see if I stepped out of the box, if I still had wings and could still fly."
DeMunn earned a Tony nomination for his starring role in the 1983 play K2. He has also appeared on the Great White Way in Comedians, Bent, Sleight of Hand, Spoils of War, Hedda Gabler, The Price and Our Town. His off-Broadway credits include The Country Girl, One Shoe Off and Gun-Shy.
Portia appeared on Broadway in The Ride Down Mt. Morgan. She is a LAByrinth Theater Company member and earned a Lucille Lortel nomination for her work in Guirgis' Our Lady of 121st Street. Her other off-Broadway credits include In Arabia, We'd All Be Kings, Dutch Heart of Man and Guinea Pig Solo. She was featured in previous For Reele readings and will play Opal, the significant other of the ex-convict to be played by Anthony Mackie at the center of the play.
The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman, will begin performances at the Public on February 8. DeMunn will appear in the production alongside previously announced cast members Sam Rockwell, Eric Bogosian, Chris McGarry and Mums.
