'night, Mother, directed by Michael Mayer, opened to mostly negative reviews on November 14. In his Broadway.com Review of the drama, Eric Grode wrote: "With such incredibly high dramatic stakes, and with actors like Edie Falco and Brenda Blethyn being directed by the dependably crisp Michael Mayer, at least a handful of potent emotional set pieces and displays of actorly craft are inevitable. But audiences must sit through a disconcerting amount of missed opportunities to get there, and what could have been a devastating punch to the solar plexus leaves surprisingly few marks."
'night, Mother has been struggling at the box office ever since it began. Last week it made just $180,563 and filled the Royale to only 37.96% capacity on average.
