Broadway Grosses: Comfort and Joy

Christmas in New York always means lots of tourists and big audiences for Broadway. During the holiday, five shows 700 Sundays, Avenue Q, Mamma Mia!, The Lion King and Wicked filled their theaters to 100% capacity or more. Not surprisingly, the family-friendly tuners The Lion King Wicked and Mamma Mia! did best of all in terms of box office tallies--the first two easily topped the million dollar mark and Mamma Mia! came in just below it with $978,890.
