Wopat returned to the Broadway production of Chicago last month to play Billy Flynn a role he has also performed on tour for a limited time. He was nominated for a Best Actor in a Musical Tony Award for his performance in Annie Get Your Gun. He also appeared on the Great White Way in Guys and Dolls, City of Angels, I Love My Wife and 42nd Street. His other New York theatrical credits include A Bistro Car on the CNR, Olympus on My Mind and The Guys. Wopat, who is probably best known to television audiences for his starring role in The Dukes of Hazzard, is also a recording artist, most recently represented by 2000's well-received The Still of the Night on Angel Records.
Glengarry Glen Ross centers on a competitive group of real estate salesmen who've gotten more than a little desperate during the reign of Reaganomics. The play won the 1984 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, had a successful run at Broadway's Golden Theatre from March 16, 1984 through February 17, 1985, and was made into an acclaimed 1992 film.
Glengarry Glen Ross, directed by Joe Mantello, is scheduled to begin performances at the Royale Theatre on April 8 in preparation for a May 1 opening.
