Embedded is a ripped-from-the-headlines satire about the madness surrounding the brave women and men on the front lines in a Middle-East conflict. The show, directed by Robbins, premiered at The Actors' Gang where Robbins is artistic director in Los Angeles and moved off-Broadway to the Public Theater, where Robbins joined the cast mid-run. The piece received mixed reviews, but it was a popular hit in both places.
The film version, also directed by and starring Robbins, premiered in September at the Venice Film Festival but did not find a distributor for a wide theatrical release.
