DeMunn starred in A Picasso at Philadelphia's Plays & Players Theater two years ago. He earned a Tony nomination for his starring role in the 1983 play K2. DeMunn has also appeared on the Great White Way in Comedians, Bent, Sleight of Hand, Spoils of War, Hedda Gabler, The Price and Our Town. His off-Broadway credits include The Country Girl, One Shoe Off and Gun-Shy.
A Picasso is set in Paris during the height of the German occupation. The play centers on an imaginary confrontation between Picasso and a mysterious interrogator, Miss Fischer, concerning several confiscated works that the great artist might have painted.
A Picasso, directed by John Tillinger, is scheduled to run on Stage II from March 31 through May 29. MTC is currently searching for DeMunn's replacement. A female lead will also be announced shortly.
