Miracle Brothers was the Vineyard's first commission of its new Kitty Carlisle Hart Musical Theatre Lab and has been developed at the theater. Set in 17th-century Brazil, Miracle Brothers tells the tale of two brothers--one black, one white--whose escape from life on a plantation leads them through a series of bold, romantic and often swashbuckling adventures. Miracle Brothers is now expected to begin performances in August, kicking off the 2005-2006 season for the company.
The Argument centers on a middle-aged artist, Sophie, deciding whether or not she should have an abortion. For her, the act of creating the child is enough. But her partner wants something more--the actual baby to raise with his love.
The Argument had a reading at New York Stage and Film festival last summer. The Vineyard production, directed by Maria Mileaf , will begin performances on May 11 in preparation for an opening to be announced.
