Applegate & Sinclair to Star as London's New Bialystock & Bloom

Fred Applegate and John Gordon Sinclair will be the next Bialystock and Bloom in London. The duo will join The Producers on April 25, replacing Brad Oscar and Lee Evans.

Applegate previously played Max Bialystock on both the American tour and Broadway productions of The Producers. He also played Franz Liebkind on tour and in the Los Angeles production. Applegate appeared on the Great White Way in The Sound of Music. His other theatrical credits include the Los Angeles production of Beauty and the Beast. His television credits include featured roles in Newhart, 9 to 5, FM, Woops! and Life… and Stuff.

Sinclair won an Olivier Award for his work in She Loves Me. His other theatrical credits include The Real Thing, Kafka's Dick and Sweet Panic. Sinclair first became known in the early 1980s for his lead role in the film Gregory's Girl. His subsequent film credits include the sequel to that movie, Gregory's Two Girls, Erik the Viking and The Brylcreem Boys. He recently appeared on the small screen in the BBC television series Mad About Alice.

The West End mounting of The Producers opened at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane to rave reviews on November 9. Original cast members Leigh Zimmerman, Conleth Hill and James Dreyfuss are expected to stay with the production.
