Amajuba: Like Doves We Rise will end its run at the West End's Criterion Theatre on April 30. The next tenant at the venue will be Gregory Murphy's The Countess.
Amajuba: Like Doves We Rise is made up of personal stories from South Africa. The cast includes Tshallo Chokwe, France Conradie, Bongi Mpangwana, Phillip "Tipo" Tindisa and Jabulile Tshabalala. The show, directed by Yael Farber, began performances on April 5 and was originally scheduled to run through May 28.
Set in 1853, The Countess centers on the celebrated art critic John Ruskin, his wife Effie, and the Pre-Raphaelite painter John Everett Millais who all depart in high spirits for the Scottish Highlands. When they return four months later, London is already beginning to whisper of the woman one man calls mad, and the other... the countess. The show, directed by Ludovica Villar-Hauser, is scheduled to begin previews on June 2. Nick Moran, Alison Pargeter and Damian O'Hare star.
