Nick Moran and James Hicks' Telstar, a biography of record producer Joe Meek, will be the next tenant at London's New Ambassadors Theatre. The production, directed by Paul Jepson, is scheduled to begin performances in the West End on June 21.
Telstar takes the audience back to the iconic sounds of the 1960s, telling the story of Joe Meek played by Con O'Neil, the world's first independent record producer, whose explosive and bizarre life changed the world of popular music. The show premiered at the Cambridge Arts Theatre on February 2 and proceeded to tour the U.K.
Telstar is scheduled to end its limited engagement on September 10. Its run is sandwiched between Frank McGuinness' Someone Who'll Watch Over Me, which is running at the New Ambassadors Theatre through June 18, and the West End return of R.C. Sherriff's Journey's End, which is scheduled to get underway on September 22.
