South Coast Rep to Present American Premiere of Hitchcock Blonde

Hitchcock Blonde weaves together three stories which each take place 40 years apart, beginning in 1919 to tell a tale of desire and intrigue. What was the dark secret that caused the great Alfred Hitchcock to obsess over beautiful blondes in jeopardy? At a villa in the Greek isles a British professor and his lovely young assistant sift through the clues--reels of disintegrating celluloid--as illusion and reality meld.

Hitchcock Blonde, directed by the author, ran at London's Royal Court Theatre in spring 2003 before transferring to the West End's Lyric Theatre, where it ran from June 16, 2004 through September 20, 2004. The show was expected to hit Broadway this season with Christina Ricci and Jane Krakowski, but the planned mounting never materialized.

The South Coast Repertory season will also include Bertolt Brecht's The Caucasian Chalk Circle, Garson Kanin's Born Yesterday, a world premiere announced at a later date, Tom Stoppard's The Real Thing, Joe Penhall's Dumb Show, Tracy Letts' Man from Nebraska and Kirsten Greenidge's Bossa Nova.
