The Five Lesbian Brothers--a group composed of Maureen Angelos, Babs Davy, Dominique Dibbell, Peg Healey and Lisa Kron--are returning to New York Theatre Workshop. The Brothers' newest piece, Oedipus at Palm Springs, will be the first show of the NYTW 2005-2006 season. It will start performances on July 20.
Oedipus at Palm Springs takes its inspiration from the Greek tragedy Oedipus. During a sunny vacation for two committed lesbian couples, the fun-loving surface of tanning, mixed drinks, golf and sport utility vehicles meets the messy infrastructure of long-term relationships, maternal love and gay marriage.
The Five Lesbian Brothers has had two of its previous shows presented by NYTW. The Secretaries played at the off-Broadway venue in 1994 and in 1997 Brides of the Moon played there.
Oedipus at Palm Springs, directed by Leigh Silverman, is scheduled to officially open on August 3 and run through August 28.
