Second Stage Announces Works for Uptown Series

Second Stage Theatre has announced information about its Second Stage Theatre Uptown series at the McGinn/Cazale Theater. The company will present Adam Bock's Swimming in the Shallows with Logan Marshall-Green best known for his work on The O.C. and 24 and the world premiere of Dan O'Brien's The Dear Boy.

In addition to Marshall-Green, Swimming in the Shallows will feature Michael Arden, Rosemarie DeWitt, Mary Schultz and Murphy Geyer. In Swimming in the Shallows, a group of friends question the commitments of their eclectic love lives. The mounting, directed by Trip Cullman, is scheduled to run from June 21 through July 17.

The Dear Boy, directed by Michael John Garcés, will play from August 1 through August 27. The play centers on English teacher James Mahoney who, at the edge of retirement, questions the life he didn't live. Soon unexpected encounters help him realize who he is and what he has accomplished.

In the past, Second Stage Theatre Uptown which was formerly titled "New Plays Uptown" has presented works by Joe Calarco, Wendy Kesselman, Hunt Holman, Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and Brooke Berman.
