"It is a show about struggling actors in the late 1970s," Lane told Broadway.com. "One's career takes off, while the other languishes. The characters are a composite of people I've known through the years and the plotline actually happened to a couple I knew. And it is fun. It's a comedy. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll go home happy."
In the Wings centers on a young couple who dream of becoming famous actors. They both think they have their shot when they hook up with a famous acting teacher who is writing a musical about Hollywood blacklisting that has roles for them both. But when the tuner moves to the Great White Way, only the woman is offered a part.
Woman Before a Glass, the current tenant at the Promenade, will end its run on Sunday, June 12.
