Martin Short: If I'd Saved, I Wouldn't Be Here, which is scheduled to open on Broadway in the spring of 2006, will have its world premiere at Boston's Colonial Theatre this fall.
Martin Short: If I'd Saved, I Wouldn't Be Here combines musical comedy sketches and dance numbers. Filling the stage with unforgettable characters like Jiminy Glick, Ed Grimley and many others, Short brings over 20 years of comic genius to the stage. The show features songs and a script by Short and the Hairspray songwriting team of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. Wittman will direct.
Earlier this year, there was a reading of the project that featured Short, Brooks Ashmanskas, Jackie Hoffman, Ana Gasteyer and Capathia Jenkins. No one beyond Short has been confirmed for the full production.
