"When Scott came to me with the idea of mounting Barefoot in the Park on Broadway, I thought it was a wonderful idea. The play is a classic American romantic comedy long overdue for a first-rate Broadway revival," lead producer Robyn Goodman said in a statement. "A year ago we did a reading of the play with Amanda, Patrick, Jill, and Tony, and they were sublime. We're thrilled that everyone's schedules have worked out to make this production a reality."
Barefoot in the Park follows the lives of newlyweds Paul and Corie Bratter Wilson and Peet as they try to adjust to life in a tiny walk-up apartment in Greenwich Village. He is a conservative lawyer who wants to keep a low profile, and she is a free spirit who is trying to spice up life. Throughout the course of the play, they pull apart and grow together. Clayburgh will play Corie's mother. Roberts will be featured as eccentric upstairs neighbor, Victor Velasco.
This upcoming production will mark the first Broadway revival of the comedy.
