Orfeh to Play Stripper Pippi in Trailer Park Musical at Dodger Stages

Broadway.com has learned that Orfeh will star as home-wrecking stripper Pippi in the upcoming off-Broadway production of The Great American Trailer Park Musical. She joins previously announced cast members Shuler Hensley, Kaitlin Hopkins, Marya Grandy, Linda Hart, Leslie Kritzer and Wayne Wilcox.

Orfeh began her career in her teens as a recording artist, obtaining a top-40 single and a gold album with the band Or-n-More. She made her Broadway debut in Footloose and has since appeared on the Great White Way in Fascinatin' Rhythm and Saturday Night Fever in which she earned great acclaim for her performance as Annette. Her other notable credits include playing Janis Joplin in Love, Janis off-Broadway and appearing in Me & Mrs. Jones at Philadelphia's Prince Music Theater. Orfeh can also be seen in the movie musical Temptation and as a guest star on Sex and the City and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

The Great American Trailer Park Musical focuses on what happens when a hot young stripper Orfeh with an agenda moves into a North Florida trailer park called Armadillo Acres and compromises the married man next door Hensley. Spray cheese, roadkill, magic marker huffing and plenty of nostalgia are all components the show. The musical features music and lyrics by David Nehls and a book by Betsy Kelso.

The Great American Trailer Park Musical, which premiered in last year's New York Musical Theatre Festival, is scheduled to begin performances at Dodger Stages on August 20 in preparation for a September 15 opening.

A production spokesperson could not confirm the casting of Orfeh.
