Explosions in London Force Theaters to Cancel Performances

Following today's attacks on the public transportation system in London, all Thursday matinees in the West End have been canceled. Most theaters have also called off evening performances.

Those shows that are dark until tomorrow include Aristocrats, As You Like It, Billy Elliot, Blood Brothers, Chicago, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Countess, Fame, The Far Pavilions, The Genius of Ray Charles, Guys and Dolls, Hedda Gabler, The Home Place, Les Miserables, Little Red Riding Hood, The Lion King, Mamma Mia!, Mary Poppins, The Mousetrap, The Phantom of the Opera, Saturday Night Fever, The Postman Always Rings Twice, The Producers, The Shaugraun, Some Girls, Stomp, Telstar, This Is How It Goes, tick, tick… BOOM!, The UN Inspector, The Woman in Black and The Woman in White. Additionally, all performances at the Globe, Royal Court and Soho Theatre have been canceled.

During rush hour this morning, the London transportation system was hit with four bombs. Three of the explosions were in the subway system, while one affected a double-decker bus. Thirty-three people are now confirmed dead, and that number is expected to rise as the day goes on. Hundreds are wounded. Public transportation is shut down and police have been advising people to avoid traveling.

Performances of all West End shows are expected to resume tomorrow.
