Will Eno's Thom Pain to Extend Off-Broadway Through December 31

Will Eno's Thom Pain based on nothing is extending its run at DR2 through December 31. Original star James Urbaniak will not be on board for the new period. T. Ryder Smith is set to begin performances in the one-man show on September 5.

Smith was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for his performance in another solo show, Underneath the Lintel. His other New York theatrical credits include The Gods are Pounding My Head, King Cowboy and Rufus Rules the Universe. He has been seen on the big screen in Nocturne, Brainscan and Birth.

Thom Pain based on nothing is a wry monologue in which an ordinary man, Thom Pain, muses on childhood, yearning, disappointment and loss, cataloguing the eternal agonies of the human condition as he draws his audience into his last-ditch plea for empathy and enlightenment.

The production, which opened on February 1, received mixed to positive notices including out-and-out rave in The New York Times. Thom Pain based on nothing previously played to acclaim both at the Edinburgh Festival and in London. Hal Brooks directs.
