Brian Noonan Set to Play Title Role in Off-Broadway Musical Dr. Sex

Brian Noonan will play the title role in the off-Broadway musical Dr. Sex. Ron Bohmer, who was previously expected to star, had a conflicting commitment. Christopher Corts will also be featured in the tuner alongside Noonan and previously reported cast member Jennifer Simard.

Noonan has appeared on Broadway in Les Miserables, The Phantom of the Opera and Jesus Christ Superstar. His other credits include tours of Cats, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat and South Pacific. He also appeared in mountings of Forbidden Broadway off-Broadway and around the world.

Corts will play Wally, Dr. Kinsey's assistant who develops sexual relationships with Kinsey Noonan and his wife Simard. He previously played the role in developmental readings of the show. His theatrical credits include regional mountings of The Glass Menagerie, My Fair Lady and Showtune: Celebrating the Words & Music of Jerry Herman.

Set in the 1930s and '40s in Bloomington, Indiana, Dr. Sex explores what happens when Professor Kinsey, tired of cataloguing American gall wasps, discovers his life's work in human sexual research. The musical has a score by Larry Bortniker and a book by Larry Bortniker and Sally Deering

Dr. Sex, directed by Pamela Hunt, is scheduled to run at off-Broadway's Peter Norton Space usually home to the Signature Theatre from August 26 through October 30. An opening night is set for September 15.
