The Hampstead Theatre revival of Joe Orton's What the Butler Saw is moving to the West End. The production, directed by David Grindley, will begin performances at the Criterion on August 24.
What The Butler Saw is the story of Dr. and Mrs. Prentice, who spend as much energy hiding their affairs as they do pursuing them. This production of the farce stars Geoff Breton, Jonathan Coy, Huw Higginson, Belinda Lang, Joanna Page and Malcolm Sinclair.
What The Butler Saw is running at the Hampstead through August 20. "The play offers a persuasive portrait of a 1960s society in which anarchy was at war with order," wrote The Guardian's Michael Billington about the staging. "And, even if the actors occasionally play over the laughs, Grindley's production is intelligently paced."
