In Mr. Marmalade, adult behavior is interpreted through the characters Lucy Gummer and Larry Schreiber, two very smart children. Lucy has a precocious vocabulary, killer skills in the kitchen, a husband who spends too much time at the office and she's just four years old! Her imaginary world revolves around a too-busy businessman named Mr. Marmalade Hall who never has time for the child who adores him.
Hall is best known for playing David Fisher in the critically acclaimed HBO drama Six Feet Under, which recently completed its run. He earned a 2002 Emmy Award nomination for Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Drama Series for his work in the series. Hall previously appeared on Broadway in Skylight, Cabaret which was also a Roundabout production and Chicago. His off-Broadway credits include New York Shakespeare Festival productions of Macbeth and Cymbeline, Timons of Athens and Henry V at the Public and the Manhattan Theatre Club mounting of Corpus Christi.
Mr. Marmalade, directed by Michael Greif, is set to begin previews at off-Broadway's Laura Pels Theatre on November 1 in preparation for a November 20 opening. It is scheduled to run through January 29.
