The Trip to Bountiful, directed by Harris Yulin, is scheduled to run from November 15 through January 8. In the play, Carrie Watts Smith longs to return to her childhood home of Bountiful, Texas, where she hasn't been in 30 years. Despite her failing health, she grows more determined to escape from the tiny Houston apartment she shares with her soft-spoken son and watchful daughter-in-law Foote. She finally gets her chance to head homeward and the journey is an important one.
Landscape of the Body, directed by Michael Greif, is scheduled to run from March 28 through May 21. Set in 1970s Greenwich Village, the play centers on Betty Yearn Taylor, who is on the lam, connected to the mysterious murder of her teenaged son. Greif previously directed a mounting of the play with Taylor and Scott at the Williamstown Theatre Festival.
After these shows, Signature will present a staged reading of Madame Bovery before beginning its August Wilson season.
