Danny Glover Joins Starry Cast of Dreamgirls Film

Danny Glover will join Beyonce Knowles, Jamie Foxx and Eddie Murphy in the upcoming big screen adaptation of Dreamgirls. Glover is set to play the role of Marty Madison, manager of James "Thunder" Early Murphy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Glover's film credits include Chu Chu and the Philly Flash, Out, Iceman, Silverado, The Color Purple, the four Lethal Weapon movies, Predator 2, A Rage in Harlem, Grand Canyon, Bopha!, Kidnapped, Gone Fishin', Operation Dumbo Drop, Angels in the Outfield, The Royal Tenenbaums and Saw. His upcoming big screen credits include Manderlay and Missing in America. Glover has also made numerous appearances on the small screen, receiving Emmy nominations for his roles in the specials Mandela, Lonesome Dove and Freedom Song and one for a guest appearance on the series Fallen Angels.

Dreamgirls, which centers on the rise of a Supremes-like singing trio, features music by Henry Krieger The Tap Dance Kid, Side Show and book and lyrics by Tom Eyen.

The Dreamgirls film is being written and directed by Bill Condon. Production is expected to start in Los Angeles in early 2006.
