Complete casting has been announced for the Atlantic Theater Company production of Martin McDonagh's The Lieutenant of Inishmore. Jeff Binder, Kerry Condon who appeared in the show at RSC at Stratford and the Barbican Pit in London, Andrew Connolly, Dashiell Eaves, Peter Gerety last seen on Broadway in Never Gonna Dance, Domhnall Gleeson who was featured in the West End production, Tony-nominated actor Brian d'Arcy James currently starring in White Christmas in Los Angeles and David Wilmot who also appeared in The Lieutenant of Inishmore at RSC at Stratford and the Barbican Pit in London will star.
The Lieutenant of Inishmore is set in 1993 in County Galway on the rocky island of Inishmore, off the coast of Ireland. Padraic Wilmot is a terrorist with no feeling for those he blows up, but he has an obsessive attachment to Thomas, his beloved cat. But someone has killed poor wee Thomas. Was it an accident or an execution? Either way, the death must be concealed before 'Mad Padraic' returns from a stint of torture and bombing. Otherwise the recriminations will be horrifying.
The Lieutenant of Inishmore, directed by Wilson Milam, will begin previews at the Atlantic Theater Company on February 8 and officially open on February 27. The play is currently scheduled to end its limited engagement through on April 9.
