Theatreworks has indefinitely postponed its scheduled spring world premiere of the Pamela's First Musical due to the illness of librettist Wendy Wasserstein, according to a production statement. Instead the California theater company will present the Wasserstein classic The Sisters Rosensweig.
Based on Wasserstein's children's book of the same name, Pamela's First Musical is seen through the eyes of a pint-sized dreamer determined to make theatrical magic of her own. Guided to the stages and stars of the Great White Way by her effervescent Aunt Louise, Pamela discovers that from song and dance to family and friendship, there's an art to everything--both onstage and off. The show features music by the late Cy Coleman and lyrics by David Zippel.
Graciela Daniele was on board to direct and choreograph Pamela's First Musical, which was scheduled to run fromApril 5 through April 30. The Sisters Rosensweig is now set for those dates.
